Ballard Nature Center building

A place for outdoor fun and education for the whole family!

Ballard Nature Center provides a place for visitors to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature and also a chance to learn more about the natural world. Outdoor opportunities include trails of varying lengths, picnic sites, and a kids’ fishing pond. The visitor center provides exhibits and displays that will intrigue visitors that are young and young at heart. The center’s staff provide a variety of educational programing throughout the year. Campfire Night

Gather 'round the fire for songs, activities, and more as we learn about nocturnal creatures.  A hike is part of the fun.  Family program.  Registration for this program starts May 22.  Call or email us to register.

Bugs Gone Wild!

Self-led family program. Come learn all about insects with activities set up in the lower level. Come & go as you would like. Complete the self-led activities and head out on the trail to see how many insects you can find! No cost or registration necessary. For all ages.

Ponds & Fish

For kids ages 7-10.  We'll use nets to explore pond life up close and learn more about fish. Bring a pair of rubber boots or shoes that can get muddy/wet.
