The Visitor Center features a large exhibit room with a kids’ area, a bird viewing area, a resource library, and a lower level classroom/meeting room.
The interactive exhibits in the visitor center offer something for all ages. Scientific information is portrayed in creative ways — thanks to the help of local artisans, naturalists, and scientists. Many of the exhibits are tailored to children allowing them to do
what they do best — learn by exploring and touching.
Children are enticed to peer into a periscope to view an underwater ecosystem, peek into holes in a log to spy creatures hidden within, push away sand with brushes to uncover animal tracks, and piece together puzzles and quizzes.
An indoor bird viewing area offers comfortable benches to persuade visitors to “sit and stay awhile.” Over 30 species of birds visit the feeders and water feature throughout the year. Chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits are also seen at the feeding
area. The bird viewing windows offer the opportunity for close encounters with creatures, creating lasting memories.
