Pet Week

The week of July 6th come out with your pet and take a picture of your pet somewhere at Ballard. Post your picture on our Facebook page and tag Ballard Nature Center. The picture that gets the most likes will win a prize for both owner and pet.  All types of pets welcomed (excluding large livestock),..

Bug Safari

The week of July 13 things get buggy. We will have a special walk featuring pictures and info about the common insects at Ballard and a scavenger hunt sheet for you to mark off as you find samples of the real things.

Evening Hike

Learn about nocturnal animals on this self-guided interactive hike.  Come anytime between 6:30 and 8:30pm.  For all ages.

Act Like an Animal Trail

Follow this trail to learn about the movements of animals and do your best to imitate them.  There will also be a fun "where is the hidden animal" activity.

Story Walk

Read a story as you follow this special trail.  Other activities included.

Woodpecker Program

Adult program in the outdoors.  Learn about the fascinating adaptations of woodpeckers, how to ID the species that live here, & take an evening stroll.  Call to register.

A Nite at the Races

Forest Fables & Fairy Tales

Take a self-guided hike along our trail decorated with familiar characters from fables/tales.  Read a few stories along the way, test your knowledge of popular fairy tales, and try to spy all the woodland fairies.  Come anytime between 1pm & 4pm.  Free, donations accepted.  No registration needed.
